The NMPFFA held their 2009 Convention on Saturday November 14th at noon at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Albuquerque. Highlights of this years meeting included visits from Congressman Martin Heinrich and Congressman Ben Ray Lujan. The members were also treated to a few words from New Mexico State Representative Brian Egolf, Dist 47, and Secretary of State Mary Herrera. Their message was to stay involved and bring the important perspective of the men and women who serve the public to the people who make the laws. Fire fighters from eleven locals attended making this event the best representation of New Mexico's Fire Fighter Locals to date. During the convention, fire fighters passed resolutions to protect our pensions, to support the 911 procession in Santa Fe and to continue developing a process for our political endoresments. The Albuquerque Area Fire Fighters helped host the event, with an information table featuring their two recent contracts for AFD & BCFD as well as Local 244 T-shirts and water bottles. Opening ceremonies were provided courtesy of the AFD Honor Guard and New Mexico Pipe and Drum Association .
