| Fire Fighter & EMT Bill of Rights

The NMPFFA has a new bill, Senate Bill 60, introduced and currently working its way through the Senate Committees. This bill, when passed into law will provide minimum due process rights to all fire fighters and EMTs who are public employees. It establishes the procedure of an investigative hearing when an emergency responder is subject to an inquiry which might result in disciplinary action. It also requires that the covered employees are made aware of what the inquiry is about and who is making the allegations of misconduct. This week Tuesday January 26 it is scheduled to be heard by the Senate Public Afairs Committee.
